What Is GeneSight?
Every patient responds to medications differently. That’s why a particular medication may not work for you, but does work for someone else. One way to discover whether or not a medication may work is to try it, but this may lead to a trial and error process that sometimes takes months to figure out the right medication.
GeneSight Psychotropic is a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes clinically important genetic variations in your DNA. The results of the test can inform your doctor about genes that may impact how you metabolize or respond to certain medications which can eliminate the trial and error process and lead to better outcomes sooner in the treatment process.
The GeneSight test is not meant to replace a comprehensive medical assessment and is used to supplement other information considered by a healthcare provider to determine a personalized treatment plan.
- Have you failed a medication in the past?
- Is your current medication not working for you?
- Are you taking medications that cause unwanted side effects?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, ask your doctor if the GeneSight Psychotropic test is right for you.
